It is, I guess.

I know about the dates. My GMAT is 30th October and the deadline for R1 is before that so I can't apply in that.

Hello,

I have submitted my application and I had my interview yesterday.

I noticed a post about Jefferson Scholarship on this thread sometime back. Does one get a mail from Darden post the submission of application inviting him/her to apply for the scholarship?

Hi All,

I had my Darden Interview last night with Ms. Whitney Kestner. The interview was via skype. I am a candidate based in India. Summary - Darden has a policy of blind interviews so the interviewer would not know any thing about your profile, test scores or acads. The interview was 100% conversational and lasted for about 45 mins. See below the queries:

1) Please introduce yourself to me since I do not know anything about your profile - I gave a detailed 15 mins introduction and Whitney kept asking questions in between such as why did you resign from one job to another et cetera.
2) Tell me an in example of a situation where in you were worked with people from diff. cultural mindset and how did you deal with them
3) Tell me an example of when a reportee did not perform well and you helped me do better via your constructive feedback
4) Any queries for me.

I might have missed a question or 2. But the general theme of interview was conversational.

Good luck y'all.

Best,
VDC

People, I have had a problem with this question 'tell me something about yourself' since forever. Any ideas of how one should go about answering this particular question?

Hi,
For most interviews it is supposed to be a 2 minute elevator pitch. However, in Darden's case, it seems that 2 minutes won't suffice.

One should talk about their professional and educational achievements.

For more try googling a good elevator pitch, that might help!

I hope that helped.

Hi HinaTabassum,

This is one of the most important questions in any interviews one will face. The reason this question is asked is for the interviewer to know your professional journey in a snapshot. There are many ways to approach this question. You should generally start with introducing yourself. Eg. 'Hi My name is XYZ and I graduated in 20XX earning Bachelors in XXX'. (Talk about your degree and why you pursued this degree). If you graduated in top X% of your class be sure to mention that and any other significant accomplishments you had during college (maybe you participated and won an intercollegiate competition, you started a club that did XYZ and had a membership of 500+ students, etc). Repeat if you have a post-graduate degree. Then move on to your first job where you mention your company's name and what does the company do ( if it is a start-up or family business or a relatively unknown company). Start with why did you join this company. Although the interviewer will have your resume, you can talk about a few of your job functions (maybe 1-2 important ones) and then move on to your new job. Make sure to clearly transition from the first job to the next job in that tell them why did you decide to go for the next job and what you gained from it. Also you can share some highlights of your accomplishments in the new job. That way you can spend about 3-5 minutes on your introduction and then move on to the next question.

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hi bro,

Please share your thoughts:

How long did the interview go on?
Were the questions based on your profile/resume?
Was it a stress interview?
How was your experience?

Best.

I gave my interview on the 19th of September. The interview went on for about 45 minutes. For the first 30 mins, the interviewer asked questions and then in the next 15 minutes, she cleared my doubts and answered my questions. The interviewer was very friendly and supportive. She asked me two questions related to my career and rest of the questions were targetted to how I have I contributed to the society, what do I do in my free time, my hobbies, who am I as a person, where did I grow up, how was my childhood. I was very comfortable during the whole interview.

I find this very curious because the Darden emphasis on what they call telling your story, where you relay your life story in 25 minutes. This is what my international Darden EA applicant experienced on Skype. Waiting on a report from the one in Boston but we spent a good amt of time preparing her for this; I imagine she would have let me known right off if he had not asked her about it. Did they give you an invitation to tell your story MRaut ?
