Hi I will Be giving by GMAT in the month of october, 2018. Wanted to know whether I will be able to apply for Round 1 ?
ISB has released its MBA essays for this year and the application deadline for Round 1 has been set for September 15. ISB focuses on students with good academic credentials, clarity of thoughts in regard to their career and aspirations and candidates who have demonstrated leadership skills. Your ISB essays should focus on why you stand out as a candidate and your unique value proposition. ISB puts lots of emphasis on class diversity and therefore it becomes even more important to highlight your unique attributes in the application.
ISB application has two mandatory essays
Essay1: At ISB we value diversity as it enhances both the in-class and out of class learning experience. Tell us how would you contribute to the same? (400 words max)
The essay highlights the diversity factor that is very important to ISB. The essay should tell your unique story and how you bring in inimitable set of experiences and values that make you an ideal ISB candidate. You can also focus on highlighting your traits that resonate well with the ISB culture.
Essay #2
Enrolling in a Business School is an important career decision. Critically look at your career to date, the choices you have made, the key influences behind those choices, your goals for the future and how do you think ISB's PGP can help you in achieving your goals? (300 words max)
ISB wants candidates who demonstrate clarity of thought and who have taken a structured approach towards building their careers. This essay provides the opportunity for you to present to the ADCOM why MBA is the next important and logical step for you by presenting your career story and the decisions that went into shaping it.

The ISB R1 deadline has been brought forward this year and the deadline is on the 15th September. Hence, if you take the test in October, you will be eligible to apply in R2, which is completely alright, considering both Rounds have an almost equal distribution of seats.

Hi Sunakshi
The Round 1 deadline for ISB this year is Sep 15 (with Dec 15 as the R2 deadline). Thus, if you take your GMAT in October, you will be only able to target R2.
Since last year, ISB does not provide the option of an Optional Essay. In case you have extenuating circumstances to discuss such as gaps in work ex and academics, ISB provides space within the application form to do so.

An optional essay is a different from a re-applicant essay Of course, if you are a re-applicant, you will have this provision. Till two years ago, there was, an Optional Essay that was available for every applicant to answer (irrespective of whether he or she was a re-applicant or not). That Optional Essay has been discontinued.
Where's the merit by diversity essay this year? I can't seem to find it. It is mentioned in the instructions below though, but not anywhere in the scholarships section.

Hi Folks, hope you all are enjoying the application process and learning more about yourself as you begin to frame your essays. It's always good to do a bit of introspection before writing the essays to get more clarity on your strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
Sharing a brief on how to assess yourself before beginning an application. This is something that helped me a lot and is valid not just for ISB, but for any B-School you are targeting.
1. Jot down all the major events in your life (mostly professional) since your undergrad. These can be about the teams you led, impactful projects, community activities etc. 2. Try to figure out what challenges did you face and how did you solve them. Also, figure out instances where you relied on your strengths to get things done. 3. Now that you have a chronology of your life along with what have been your major strengths and where you faced challenges, think about what do you want to achieve next? 4. Talk to people in B-Schools and discuss your goals with them. You'll learn how the B-School is helping you achieve your goals. ( Say hello to Networking! )
Points 1 & 2 will help you write ISB Essay 1. Points 3 & 4 will help you write ISB Essay 2.
Hi Guys, This Sunday we have a live chat with ShifaS, at 9pm Indian time (8:30am Pacific time, 4:30pm British time) in our chat room. Shifa graduated from ISB in 2013. I just saw this post. Thank you so much for posting those valuable tips for new applicants. It is truly worth appreciating when someone who has gone through the process takes time to share his/her takeaways/advice/reflections about application process for future applicants on forum. All the best for your amazing MBA journey at UT Austin. Would highly appreciate if you could share something like this for McCombs too here https://gmatclub.com/forum/calling-mcco ... 68520.html
