On the surface, your profile seems to be rather appealing. Regarding your academics, let me start by congratulating you on receiving a terrific GMAT score. Additionally, you have a high GPA. However, given that you are part of an overrepresented group of applicants, I advise adding a little more detail about your general statistics as well as details about any other courses, certifications, and academic honours in addition to your GMAT score to help your academic profile as a whole.
You do have a good deal of relevant job experience, and it is clear that you have managed different projects and engaged with a variety of clients, demonstrating your adaptability and ability to succeed. The trick will be selectively presenting these events so that the adcoms don't miss them. You need to carefully consider your work history and emphasise the significant events that best illustrate your USPs, some outstanding leadership examples, and how you went above and beyond the call of duty to advance the organisation. Additionally, I can see that you have some interpersonal experience, which will give your profile a distinctive flavour and highlight your vivacious personality. ROSS is really eager in learning about its applicants and what they can bring to the table.
Your ECs will undoubtedly improve your application. Your profile will stand out if you are involved with NGOs and work for the common good during covid waves. If you brainstorm, I'm sure you'll come up with some fantastic tales, particularly about the leadership possibilities (both as a team player and as a leader), and how they illustrate the impact made! Make the most of your ECs, which reveal your varied personality and play a significant part in your application.
You have a solid profile all around! Your decision to attend business school makes sense because Ross, Yale, and Stern have better admit rates for applicants with consulting experience. Additionally, you might include CBS, Booth, and Kellogg on your list! Although I believe some parts of your profile are still too brief, it would be helpful if you could be more detailed about your post-MBA goals (your response is quite typical) so that we can assist you match them with the school's principles!

Hi Faisalkhan1212/ Aditya Kumar,
1. Great academics & Brand name
2. Great Employer & WorkEx
3. No mention of Extra Curriculars however
4. Your GMAT is on the lower side for the M-7 schools
5. Career direction meaningful, but goals need to be articulated better

Assuming you have at least Average ECs, and are able to work on your Career Goals, I would say with a 740+ kind of GMAT you can be a competitive profile for M-7; As for your career path in sustainability, there are some names better suited than the others including Yale.

Feel free to connect for a free, one-to-one, session to discuss your profile in more detail and to answer your questions. Ping on my LinkedIn

Hey Aditya,
First of all you have a very great profile.

You have a decent relevant work experience, and Academically, you have a good GPA which showcases your academic power. Your CGPA is 8.25 or 8.3 which makes your GPA 3.46 and it is considered A grade. Speaking of your GMAT score of 700, it is decent but you are planning to retake it that would be best as it would work in your favour as it further illustrates your academic capabilities, allowing you to apply to most of the top colleges. While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavours matter as well because AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles.

Not only this your work experience also plays an important in your application process. As far as your work experience goes, since an MBA is a manager's degree and requires significant work experience, your 5+ years of work experience would put you at par with other applicants. In order to stand out from the crowd, you most certainly should focus on your GMAT and major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Since you have some big brands like ExxonMobil (one of world's largest energy companies) in your work experience, these will definitely benefit you and showcase an equally competitive profile.

Extracurricular + Achievements: Your extracurriculars are decent. It definitely showcases your hard-working skills as you have won several medals.
But I would recommend you to do volunteering as well, as it will shine in your application.

You just need to make a killer application highlighting all your skills explaining why you are the perfect candidate.
Make your application unique so that it stands out of the crowd.

Here are the Top MBA B-Schools you can target:
University of Pennsylvania: Wharton
Columbia Business School
Harvard Business School

Hi Saketbangur hope this finds you well

my two cents-

1. R2 will be cutthroat competitive at these schools even through you have a good GMAT score and work profile. If MBB is your end goal, and if you are open to considering Europe you could apply to INSEAD or LBS to diversify between the US and UK/EU. Although I suggest you should prioritize not more than 4 schools to create quality applications in R2.

2. You should prepare your personal narrative extremely well. In addition to that you must take a personal interest in reaching out to the school and alumni as most of these schools would value your engagement with the community. Reach out to alumni who have followed a similar trajectory as you hope to and make good notes on why you would be a great fit for the school. The more you understand about the school and its values, the stronger your application would be for R2.

Best wishes

Major: Computer Science and Engineering
GMAT :690 (Q44 V40) - Will not be retaking the test

Hi abhisg1 hope this finds you well

Your academic arc is not clear - which college did you do your undergrad from? Given the high competition demographic that you belong to, the odds of making it to ISB and NUS with a Q44 may not be too favorable. You have a really good verbal score (~90th percentile), and if you could only increase the Q to a 49 level, you would be so much better positioned for your target schools.

For the UK schools, you are currently at the Oxford and Cambridge GMAT average of 690, to which you must add a 20–30-point buffer in order to stay competitive. Imperial and Warwick are some other programs you could consider in the UK. In addition, I suggest you consider IIM B, C, and NTU Singapore if and when you fulfil the criteria.

Best wishes

Dear abhisg1,

Below is my take on your profile:

GMAT: Might be on the lower side depending on the schools you would want to apply to.

Academics: Average; which category of college did you graduate from? Tier 1 /2 /3

Work Experience: Above Average; the broad spectrum of assignments you have undertaken at EnY is the shining armor of your profile. It will be good to know the impact you were able to generate because of your work, what sort of assignments did you lead in a group setting and the learnings you derived by working in different industries and on multiple problem statements. Also, your role seems to cut across technology, business process automation, IT Consulting, and Risk Management. Try to make sure that you convey this as clearly as possible so that adcom doesn’t face issues in visualizing what you do and assume you are a jack of all trades.

Extra Curricular: CSR at EnY seems to be the only one where you are still actively engaged. Try to showcase stories of leadership, value creation, soft skill building, appreciation of diversity, etc. You should also mention what motivated you to pursue this voluntary activity.

Goals: You will have to demonstrate how your existing skillsets and experiences when coupled with the learning from MBA will aid you to reach your short-term career goals. With your GMAT score, it's better to refrain from namedropping top Management Consulting firms such as MBB.

Choice of Schools with a probability of admission:
• ISB: ~ 60%
• NUS: ~ 40%
• NTU: ~ 60%
• LBS: <30%
• SAID: 50%
• JUDGE: 50%
• Manchester: 70%

Note: I am assuming that for all the schools you will be submitting a stellar application capturing how you would add value to the cohort based on your personal and professional journey.

I am an ISB alum,CO15, and have guided hundreds of applicants to get into global MBA programs. Feel free to reach out to me if and when you seek professional help.

Cheers and Best of Luck!

Hello msimon26,

Thanks for your post,

Your profile looks good on the surface. Coming to the statistics, you have an amazing GMAT score, it is rare to find candidates with such a high score. You also seem to have a decent GPA.

On the professional front, It is impressive to see stellar achievements at such a young age. Being a founder of various organizations, including being a president of a charity foundation adds value to your profile. However, to fully develop your profile, you must show how you had a significant effect on the company's operations and specifically point out instances in which you took charge and led your team through a stressful environment. Therefore, I strongly encourage you to highlight your roles and responsibilities, notable projects, your customer service experience, as well as times when you showed leadership and professional excellence.

Coming to the ECs, they seem quite generic. ECs play a major role in your application and can prove to play a major role in your admission process. Since you have mentioned catholic activities, try highlighting your major learnings from it. Associating yourself with social activities demonstrates your social responsibilities to the AdComs.

Regarding your post-MBA aspirations, you must be precise when describing your short- and long-term objectives in order to match them with the institutions you are aiming for. Since your goals are associated with creating a launchpad for NGOs, try elaborating and aligning it with the colleges you are targeting and also be prepared with answers on how an MBA will help you achieve it. Consider reading an article on how to frame practical post MBA goals essay, You will get some insights!

Overall you have a robust profile, but we would like to know more in depth to understand it fully. You are very young and were founder and ceo of two companies, but we would like to understand what impact you created. If properly worked upon, your profile stands a high chance of acceptance. Hence, if you’d like, we’d be happy to get on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the business schools. We’ll be pleased to help you and make your profile stand out more. Feel free to schedule a call with us here for in-depth profile evaluation & get additional benefits.

Let's discuss with Alums to set up your R2 MBA applications

Cheers!

BBA from a Canadian University with 2.45/4.33
I know this is pretty low :(
There are two reasons:
1.My family experienced a serious financial issue when I was in college, and I had to work day and night to fund myself

2.Our grades were given on curve

GRE: 326 (v156 q170) plan to take one more exam to get a 330+ score
IELTS/TOEFL Waived

CFA II passed, plan to take III in Feb 2023
FRM II passed

WE: 60
1.Currently work as a community manager
in the Chinese Largest Business Study-Abroad Forum

2.Previously work as a CFA instructor
in the Chinese Largest Financial Education Company

3.As soon as I graduated, I worked as an Administrative Assistant
in the Vancouver office of the Chinese Second-Largest Glass Manufacturing Company

Career Goal:
Short term: Financial Sponsors Group in a IB
Long term: Launch a finance education company to prompt education equality

Others:
1.various kinds of volunteer experience during college, and have done many part-time jobs to fund for the tuition fee

2.love to share info will others, and set up a GRE study group and help more than 100 students to prepare for the test

3.devote to animal resurcing, have resurced many dogs, cats, rabbits and so on.

4.donated tuition fees for a poor student until she attended university through “PROJECTHOPE”(a NPO project aimed to subsidizing out-of-school children in poverty-stricken areas to return to school)

Target: Columbia★★★, Ross, Duke, Cornell, Kellogg
Dream: Harvard, Wharton
(I have applied for Darden R1, but I dont think I will make it since no interview till now)

Questions:
1.What are my chances to get into those B schools (especially Columbia)

2.Any other B schools recommend?

3.What else could I do to increase the chance in two months? (caz I will apply those schools in R2)

Hi,

Your target b-schools are top of rankings and needless to say, very selective. SO it will be nice to know more about your work experience- what exactly you do and what are your achievements there. Going by the less info about your resume- Ross, Duke and Cornell seem to be your target programs. In terms of beefing up your profile - I would say, just focus on the GRE - that itself is time taking. And you will have several applications to write. SO just these two activities can fill up your next two months without taking on any further activities.
I am not so sure about your career goals as I don't quite see a link between them and what you have done in the past. However, an MBA provides an opportunity to pivot. That said, you'd still want to present goals that make sense for you.

Hi All,

<<snip>>

Dream: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton.

Niv19, a few thoughts on your profile evaluation:
  1. The academic profile looks promising. The GPA is healthy and GMAT will put you in the right league for top schools. Not clear on your college pedigree though - is it a known feeder?
  2. The Deloitte brand helps on the professional front though audit is not a well represented as a role in top schools. The startup work can add a very interesting element in that regard. The duration, scale, extent and other details of it will matter though. Also, do you plan to sell/shut it down?
  3. The ECs arc is good and varied. Anything after college on that front? This is why schools value ECs.
  4. For reasons mentioned here, we don't speculate on school selection or chances. That being said, assuming some of the above don't have any red flags, I'd say you should have a pretty good shot at top league programs.

Hope this helps and feel free to reach out for further discussions.

Hey jla336,

Thanks for sharing your profile

Your profile looks good on the surface. Coming to your statistics, 326 on GRE sounds good and since you are aiming for 330+, if achieved it will definitely add value to your application. However, since you have already acknowledged your low GPA, you will have to compensate your GPA with other academic accolades. CFA and FRM are your major highlights.

On the work front, 5 years of work experience is sufficient to establish your work profile. You will need to demonstrate your leadership qualities as a community manager and bring the instances where you outperformed compared to your peers. About your ECs, GRE group in which more than 100 students benefited, your responsibilities towards the other living creatures and most importantly, your help to a student from poor financial background to complete her education displays your social services and giving back to the community. Speaking about all of this with the right passion can assist you in bringing diversity to your apps. If you could provide some instances of how this has made an impact, that would be wonderful.

Your post-MBA goals, particularly your long-term goal, are truly unique. Just a few people seem to have clear, distinct reasons for getting an MBA, and you appear to be one of them. Make it a point to explain how business school will assist you in filling gaps in your profile and guiding you to your life goals. Overall you have a decent profile. CBS seems at stretch, but you can target Cornell, Fuqua and Ross. You will need to just focus on the values of the business school you want to target. We are happy to help you build a strong and impressive application in the coming months.

We have helped applicants to get into Fuqua, Ross and Columbia with scholarships. If you'd like, we are happy to connect you with our Profile Experts (who are alums and students of top B-Schools) who will discuss your profile at length in a 30-45 minutes call and provide you with feedback based on your aspirations and goals. Feel free to schedule a call with us here for in-depth profile evaluation (and some networking on the side!)

No one knows the application process better than the individuals who have gone through it. We match you with alumni from your desired business school. Meet our Panel of Consultants.
