Hey guys,

Did anyone get a response to post interview thank you note from their off-campus alumni interviewer?

I didn’t get any response. So, wanted to understand if other alumni respond or not.

Posted from my mobile device

I didn't get anything back either, I was a little worried but maybe it is more common than I thought.

Is anyone still waiting for an interview invite to their R1 application? I applied more than a week before the deadline and I know of friends in my city who have interviewed with alumni already.

Does this signal an impending waiver? Since they said they will get back to applicants within 4-6 weeks from the deadline about off-campus interviews.

I just received my interview waiver a few hours ago, saying the following:

Thank you for requesting an off-campus interview. We currently do not have an available interviewer in your area. Consequently, we are waiving your interview requirement so as not to delay the processing of your application.

Please be assured that this waiver will in no way negatively impact your candidacy. The admissions committee understands and expects these conditions and will take them into consideration when reviewing your application. The interview is a single factor in your evaluation and is by no means the most important criterion for admission. The committee will contact you personally if they feel they need further clarification on any aspect of your application.

We appreciate your interest in the Kellogg School of Management. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us or call us at 847-491-3308.

I believe that now Kellogg will receive my full application.

Best of luck to everybody.

Know your resume in and out. Have a few leadership stories prepared for the various behavioral questions - answer in the STAR format. Know why you want to go to Kellogg. Good luck.

Typically a waiver means that they are about to reject you. It’s interesting that they say in the email that it will in no way impact your candidacy. What area are you from?

Do you have any evidence to back up that claim? Because what you're saying implies that Kellogg's email was dishonest, and I strongly disagree with you.

On the contrary, I've read in more places than one that Kellogg does not look at your full application until one of the following situations occurs:

(1) You get interviewed (on-campus or off-campus)
(2) You get an interview waiver

If situation (2) occurs, and they like your application when they see it, then they reach out to you for an interview (usually Skype).

You can not get admitted with no interview.

Everybody else please feel free to chime in here.

Also, to answer your question, I'm located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

mazenosman unfortunately, fatmike is (likely) correct. Based on interview waivers from prior years, this looks like boilerplate language, so I wouldn't take it literally. An interview (either on-campus, off-campus, or Skype) is required for admission.

The reason I say likely is that sometimes adcom will send out interview waivers to regions with high demand (China, India, etc.), review applications, and then send Skype invites out, which is what you've referred to. Not saying this won't happen in your case (certainly hope it does!), but this isn't that common outside of these high demand regions and generally interview waivers are not great news.

I received a waiver last year - there were a few of us in the United States - none of whom got Skype invitations and all of whom were ultimately rejected.

I certainly hope that isnt the case for you. If you do get invited, post on the site to give others in similar positions some hope.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

Hi All,

I have a question concerning interview scheduling for those who applied in R1. The website says you can schedule an interview after a completed application is submitted. When exactly does Kellogg consider your application complete:

1. Once you submit your materials and pay? That is letters of recommendation may still be outstanding.
2. All materials are in, including letters of recommendation, BUT you have not done the video essay. That is can you schedule an interview in the two day gap between application deadline and video essay deadline?
3. ALL materials are in AND you have also submitted your video essays?

Sharing the verbatim answer to this from the email I received upon submitting my application in R1:

"If you requested an on-campus interview, a link will be made available on your status portal after you have paid your application fee. Please use this link to schedule your interview. Interview slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All on-campus interviews must be scheduled within 48 hours of the application deadline for each round. Interviews not scheduled by the appropriate deadline will be waived."

So, looks like it will be scenario 1 from your list. Hope this helps!

Thanks, variant. Can I assume that you submitted your application before your recommenders submitted their letters?

No, actually I submitted the complete application by the deadline, including the two LoRs. But I think the link to schedule interview will be available to you as soon as you make the payment. I don't remember if you can proceed to the payment link without both the recommendations submitted, so you'll have to check that for yourself. Sorry about that! Hope this helps!

Recommendations have nothing to do with payment.

You can pay soon as you complete your part of application - which includes registering your recommenders.

Some schools like Booth give an extra week for your recommenders AFTER the deadline.

I was able to schedule my interview even when both recommenders had not submitted their letters.

Also each school has a different grace period for recommenders. Kellogg told me my recommenders had to submit the letters 2 days after deadline
