Just received an interview invite..I'm an Indian based in Sg...
Surprise factor: UCLA has asked to mail them hard copy documents (transcripts etc.). Usually schools ask for hard copies after they've admitted. Little bit surprised..

This is normal. I'm a US applicant and did that same.

Yeah, I saw this in their admissions page. I too have my undergrad from India. Residing in California. Will need to figure out the logistics of getting a set of transcripts.

Super jealous. I've been waiting for an update from UCLA but radio silence!!!

Praying for an interview since Anderson is a top choice...

As I understand they require the degree certificate as well and not just the transcript? How can one send the original degree certificate? To my best knowledge it's only the transcript for which we can request multiple copies from the undergrad/grad university, degree certificate doesn't have copies...

Possible to share the exact content of the email? I am an indian applicant as well, and completely understand your conundrum. My approach would be to forward this to my UG college and ask them to sort it out...

Apologies if my question is very India-centric. But how many Indians residing in India have got an interview invite? Please let me know the date when you got it.

This is what the mail says:

3. Original, hard-copy academic documents, certified as official in original ink by your school (not by a notary), including:

a. Transcript in the native language of your school's country, showing coursework and grades

b. Translation of your entire transcript by your school or by a certified translator (if the country's native language is not English)

c. Degree certificate or diploma in the native language of your school's country, showing the exact degree awarded and its conferral date

d. Translation of your entire degree certificate by your school or by a certified translator (if the country's native language is not English)

e. If applicable, transcripts for any graduate work that you would like the Admissions Committee to consider, especially if seeking to boost your English fluency profile

Anyways, I have send them an email, lets see what they say. Hope they don't ask me to get a duplicate copy of the degree certificate.

Buddy,
I got it today itself. I understand your concern but it's better to check the application tracker. Location is mentioned in the tracker as well

This is a strange specific point of all University of California universities. In Round 1 applied to UC Berkeley and the process was similar. They require degree certificates and transcripts hard copies as soon as you are invited to the interview. This is the rule for everybody.

Usually folks ask their universities to send the copies directly to MBA. If in your country there is no such practice (as it was with me) they accepted the notmal copies with the university stamp conferming the copies authenticity. What is funny, they do NOT accept notarized copies - only those stamped and signed by the university of the Ministry of Education.

Hooe it helps. Still wait for my invite

Well,
I work in a different country from where I did my undergrad. This is senseless.
Anyways, let them respond to the mail first.

Same problem - here is what the adcom told me:

- University certified copy is acceptable OR post the original degree to them, they will make a copy and return it back to you.

What's a university certified copy? Is it ok to get a copy stamped by the college?
