You have to come to life for the committee, they have to be able to see you as a human being a real person three-dimensional live not a flat piece of paper. You have to reach them on an emotional level as well as an analytical level. Please take it from someone who has read dozens and dozens of essays in a day. So there's a lot more to the extra-curricular BS.

That's obviously great advice.

I actually wrote one of my essays about how important my hobby (also main EC) is in my life and how it's shaped who I am as a person. So we will see if it helps me "come to life" for the Adcom... I can't say I'm too confident though. I've spent way too much time reading the zero admit threads!

How awesome is Wharton's admit process. Other schools cause so much anxiety by not releasing all at once. +1 to Wharton for just doing it in one shot.

Well there's the content of the execution. So if you have both of those pieces dialed in, you made a pretty good move by using one of your essays for that purpose. Nobody is pounding the table for a GMAT score. They are campaigning for candidates that get them on their side and then enroll them into their vision.

The following will provide you with information concerning the processing of application materials, timeline for the release of interview invitations, and final decision releases.

If your online account reads “Ready for Review”, your application has all the required materials, has been processed by the Operations Team, and has been forwarded to the Committee for review. If your online account reads “Materials Needed”, we are most likely missing a recommendation. Please check the main page of your online application account to identify the un-submitted recommendation.

The Admissions Committee will release interview invitations on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 by 5:00 pm (EST). On November 2nd, the Committee will also release all final admissions decisions to candidates that are not being invited for an interview and therefore no longer being considered for admission.

If you are invited for an interview, you will need to complete your interview by Friday, November 18th. Interviews will be available on-campus with second-year Wharton MBA Admissions Fellows and off-campus in various locations around the world by Admissions staff members. These locations will be announced in the coming weeks and all interview options are considered equally within the admission process.

Candidates who are offered an interview will receive their final admissions decision by 5:00 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, December 15th.

I'm a low-GPA (we're talking very very low), but very high GMAT candidate; Wharton is a bigtime reach for me but I love the school and was pleasantly surprised during my school visit - Wharton is a lot more close-knit than I expected. Really hope I get to interview and that the adcom can overlook the low grades for which I have a legitimate reason. Best of luck to all other candidates and hopefully we're greeted with good news on 11/2!

Have you read about Wharton's interview process? There is a component called Team Based Discussion that must precede the personal interview. So, there is no way you will get a skype interview as you can not have team based discussion over skype.

Yes, I have, just thought it'd be ridiculous if they couldnt accommodate people who cant for whatever reason fly to any of the very few hub cities they offer. I could fly at the time I applied, but due to a change in circumstances, I no longer can. Waste of an application.

Sorry to hear that but TBD is an important part of the process and Wharton (IMO) will not provide waivers. I think Wharton was clear on this aspect last year as well.

Remember that last year for R1, interview invites went out by 1 PM (Eastern) while the ding notification emails were sent out by 6 PM Eastern.

Does anyone have any research / analysis on the correlation between programs' acceptances and rejections? If I don't get an interview invite from Wharton tomorrow, I'm curious whether I stand a chance at some of the other programs I'm applying to in R2, or if I should re-visit my list...

Anyone know what to expect tomorrow?

Do all the invites get sent out at the same time?
Does an invite email look the same as a ding email (In other words, is it just an email announcing a change to our application status?)?
Or does it actually tell you directly in the email whether you have been invited or been dinged?
