Recently had my skype interview , there were no adcom members , only 2 alumni . Also i did not get asked about why mba ? Why isb ? Etc but the whole interview was about my current work .
Work ex : 7 year total as of now ( in that 2 years in usa ) Gmat - 760 10th - 90 12th - 86.2 B.tech (Cse) -8.49 ( west bengal university of tech )
Hahaha. I am sorry to say this but you are way off buddy. Can not say for other locations. But for Delhi location itself, there were 15 panels. An interview was scheduled every 40 mins. Excluding lunch and considering interviews started at 10 and ended at 6, one panel must have taken at least 10 interviews in a day. Then there were 3 days of interviews in Delhi. So, Delhi itself must have had 15*10*3 = 400-500 interviews. This I have taken very modestly. Could be more but certainly wouldn't be less.
Is it? :D then the chances to get in are tougher ;-;
400 per location also about 2000-3000 interviews may be more , 1:6 ratio ;-;
No Delhi was around 240. I got interviewed on 14th and the list had 80

I posted this a couple of weeks ago...R1 is 30 percent of the total applications. I guess that's a decent number. R2 will be around 4000. So the total applicants is around 5000 approximately. At 8:5 ratio that should come to 3000 interview invites. Heard that selectivity at isb is around 22% of total applications. As their total intake is 900, that should make it 3000:900 ratio. That's for both Hyd and Mohali campuses.
I need a suggestion from you all regarding one of the issues i am facing!
Indian Male! GMAT- 660(Q 49, V 31), striving to break the 700 mark. GMAT in 20 days or so! Working in Oil refinery in Procurement and Contracts function as "Manager"! Work Ex- 5 yrs exactly.
Issue- I have recently received an offer letter for "Senior Manager" in Oil trading function in my same company which shall be effective from 1-Jan-19. My question is i am appearing for ISB round-2, so will it matter that i get promoted before i sit for the interview(of ISB) or is it okay to get promoted and mention it in my Apps(about the promotion) before joining the department.
Will it anyhow help to go and work for a month or so in the new dept and then appear for interview! (I have the flexibility of joining the Senior function either on 1-Dec-18 or on 1-Jan-19)
Disclaimer: Personal Opinion, may or may not be closer to the actual truth
In my humble opinion, please go ahead with the promotion. From what I understood, you are in the process of filling the application form. Lets says you have 50% probability of getting shortlisted for interviews. Going by past trends of applications they receive and assuming that 660 GMAT score is not complemented by some outstanding work or extracurriculars, then this probability will drop down to very low levels.
Every organization has different schemes for awarding designations and most companies are going 'Lean'. So you can't compare a 'Senior Manager' from PSU or O&G from an 'Associate' in Tech firm. It could be possible that 'Associate' is doing more qualitative work (backed by quantitative data) than the 'Senior Manager'. We all know that in most PSUs promotion till a certain level happen by the virtue of time spent in that PSU unlike IT where there is no set pattern.
Going by my personal experience, OG and PSU find it difficult (not impossible, just that struggle is more) to land up a job in other domains unless backed by solid complements.
So in all probability, you may not even get shortlisted for ISB and you would have to wait for another year. Don't let go of this opportunity at work. Take your promotion and fill out the application form and see what happens. Converting a shortlist is also a huge task.
Just to put things into perspective, I am one of the youngest Senior Managers in the company.
I am shifting my domain to get hands on experience in Oil Trading(a lot like actual stock trading).
Having said that, I understand your apprehensions are quite well founded, thus I am giving my GMAT again in hunt of that 700 and I am confident of breaking it this time.
Can you help me with the question that what all aspects of my candidature can I improve the most in minimum time?
I had selected Mumbai as my preferred location for interview but didn't receive call. I was told that i may be called for interview to Hyderabad. Till date i have not received any update. Can someone please evaluate my profile and provide me a feedback.
Gmat score 680 V35 Q48. Work ex 5 years 6 months in operations department at Mercedes Benz India. Decent extra curricular. International work experience in Germany. Language skill - German.
I have been hearing rumours that tomorrow is the last day for interview invites and this will be the last week for interviews of R1 (Excluding R1.5). So hold on to your hopes till then. I know its tough but stay there.
