Hi everybody!

Just poulishing my R2 essays, now focusing on my recommendation letters!

Does someone know the maximum length of the essays our referrals have to write? Or any orientative length to the different questions? I am having trouble finding the answers online

Thanks so much!!

I would shoot for at least 300 words, preferably 500 Words and no more than 700 words.

They realize that these people are busy so they probably don't want to restrict any of them from writing more if they feel so inclined or box them in with a specific amount of words.

That's what I'm thinking. This is a way to help motivate your recruiters and my recommendation would be to stick with 500 words because that's actually more aligned with limits for other schools and you'll be able to repurpose some questions of their recommendations if they keep them within that target.

I think interview invites have started rolling out for R1 Indian candidates? Has any one got any update?

I know of a current student who experienced the same and was admitted after he retook. I think it means they really like you. I hope you feel like you have room to improve your score?

I'm sure not the desired response, but they must be very interested in you to request this directly rather than just WL or ding you. Would you mind sharing your stats on the the best GMAT scores you have for each section? They are pretty specific about how you need to be in the 70-75%ile for each. Used to be 75% but they have thiis range now.

Knew this was a reach, but still stung. Weakest part of the profile was a 2.5 UG GPA from a top intl. school, although I had a 3.95 in grad school (US). [#permalink]

Ouch tnt007tarun.
Sorry to hear. I would have your application reviewed, yes your GPA was low but generally a really solid GMAT like that will counter it. That is more true if it's at least a 3.0 but you have stellar graduate grades. So I suspect that there was maybe some communication mishaps with the application content or execution. Are you of Middle Eastern descent? If so even more reason.

Hello,

I am of Indian descent, ORM :) Yes, I think there may have been issues with the communication/essays/recos - INSEAD was my first app, so from that time until my 4th school now, I know for a fact my essays have improved a lot.

Thanks for stopping by.

What would be a better option in terms of INSEAD application? R2 for September intake or R1 for January intake. I have my application ready and would like to know if I should defer it for later?

In the application, the supporting documents section has options for additional transcripts, additional letters and other documents. What documents can be attached in each of these sections?

Also, I mentioned the name of an NGO I volunteer with in one of my essays. Will it be advisable to procure a letter from the NGO and attach it in the additional letters or other documents?

Thanks!

EDIT: Do the letters of recommendation have to be submitted before the deadline or is there a grace period?

Hi sidsharma1989,

it is always recommended to apply as early as possible, especially if you come from an over-represented background. That being said, Round 1 and Round 2 are very similar in terms of chances of admission.

If you don't foresee any improvements in your profile from now until the Round 1 deadline (March 11th, 2020), and you'd be basically submitting the same application as you would now (same GMAT score, resume, essays, LoRs, ...), and if you don't have a strong preference for the January intake over the September intake (e.g. because of the summer internship), it would probably make sense to apply now by Round 2.

For a more accurate assessment, feel free to share more about your background either here, or via PM or email ([email protected]).

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

Warm regards
Alex
