I fall into both groups here. I figured if I got zero scholarships from any school I'd pick Columbia first and if I did get a significant scholarship from another school (and none from CBS) I'd wear the $6k. But I'm wondering whether I'm lowering my chances of a scholarship at CBS by doing ED because supposedly they know they have to fight less hard for me?

There’s no way of knowing. CBS adcom has said time and again that applying ED does not affect your scholarship decision. But what you’re saying does make sense at the surface level, atleast to me.

I can confirm the point on scholarship. For Class of 2023, ED applicants heard about scholarships in April. The decisions might have been delayed because of COVID-19, but the general idea is that ED scholarships go out after bulk of RD admits and scholarships

I completed my interview on 10th Aug, and feedback submitted 11th Aug, still waiting for the admit call.

Wow! It tooks 14 days to turnaround.
I am international applicant. (Full sponsorship from my current employer, J-term)

Here is my application timeline to date:

Application: 07/20
Invitation to interview: 08/03
Interview: 08/11
Interview feedback: 08/13

I am currently waiting for a definition from CBS.
