Hi everyone, I received my process interview invitation yesterday, January 12th. Interview will take place on January 20th in Shanghai.

I am a Chinese-American, 30, BA from the University of North Carolina and MA from Valparaiso University. 6 years work experience in media, retail, e-commerce, market entry consulting, and trade finance, all in Shanghai. GMAT 750.

Any Idea what does the assessment day consists of?
How critical it is for admissions ? for my case, I live in Doha and it could be a bit difficult to attend!
what do you guys think?

Congratulations. Assessment Day I believe plays a big role in strengthening one's candidacy. It is also a great opportunity to meet potential classmates.

While there are some blogs online about AD, none of them are true (at least for IESE's recent approach). As a R1 admit, I can only highly encourage ppl who were invited to go, it's such a fun activity that can only help admissions have a full picture of all ur potential, and strengthen ur applications. It may also be helpful to know that AD attendees get decisions one week after it's over, as opposed to the 3+ weeks post interview for everyone else.

@rami, I believe it's 7% of the current class who are middle-eastern. For our class, we currently have 3 arabs admitted:

1. Saudi (me)
2. French / Lebanese living in Paris
3. Canadian / Lebanese living in South America

Why wouldn't u be able to attend? I would definitely recommend u book ur flight tickets... Trust me u won't regret it.

I had my interview with Dr. Go today in Shanghai. The interview was very conversational, much more informal than my previous experience with INSEAD or even a standard job interview. It felt like he was trying to figure out what kind of person I am, in addition to the standard questions about background/career path/etc., which was refreshing.

Crossing my fingers on being invited to Assessment Day!

Happy to hear the interview went well. In Round 1, ppl who were invited to AD were invited through the same interview invitation letter. So the AdCom may feel like the interview would be enough to make a decision ;)

They give both on campus and online call interviews. Not sure if they are hosted on skype though.. I believe they are held on Webex
