Has anyone that placed a deposit for R2 received a note about their PennKey yet? Or can anyone from R1 speak to how long it took?

No.

Wharton sent out a communications saying they expect Fall of 2020 to continue as normal. Obviously subject to change.

The current students at Wharton have made a change.org petition asking for relief of tuition fee. You can find the petition here https://www.change.org/p/wharton-mba-co ... assistance

Hi

Round 3 applicant here. Has the status of anyone's application in R3 changed on the portal yet?

JL2020

From the decision tracker, I see 8 applicants applied in R3 and none of them had any status update yet.

Congrats to those invited to interview in R3! Fortuna will be putting together practice sessions, which include a mock group interview session and personal debrief, led by a former Wharton Head of Admissions. If you would like to participate, please send me an email at Karen.Hamou@FortunaAdmissions.com.

um is anyone else looking at ClearAdmit right now? It seems like the people with lower standards are getting a lot of interviews (no offense obviously but perhaps its a mistake invite?).

Doesn't seem fair. Maybe, there's reason to it.

I had the same first impression. There are some surprising stats in there, but it's so hard to say anything with a small sample and zero other context about those candidates. Someone made a reasonable point about round 3 kind of being a wildcard candidate round in normal years anyway, so who knows. FWIW, there are some surprising-on-paper profiles that were invited to interview or admitted in earlier rounds glancing through this too https://gmatclub.com/forum/wharton-188/ ... oInterview

If the visa issues deters a lot of internationals from attending, then they could possibly WL those with lower than average class profiles and take them off if needed.

If I had to guess, they might be fillers for the team based interview. There are a lot of slots for team interviews. Maybe 30 if I remember right. If they need 4 or 5 per slot, then that's a lot of people to fill in for a round that typically has very few applicants. Also, if the visa issues deters a lot of internationals from attending, then they could possibly WL those with below average class stats and take them off if needed.

OK, a few hours later it is surprising how few dings have still been reported. "Filler" interview invites don't really make sense to me - they're experienced at this enough to not need crash test dummies for comparison, and they can always hold more or fewer interview sessions - but I think you have to be right that a lot of candidates who might ordinarily be rejected will get WL’d as a hedge... if Harvard came out and said they’re running a deeper WL than normal, MIT is openly reconsidering applicants they rejected in earlier rounds, and Wharton was among many schools extending their R3 application deadline, adcoms must be working in their own ways to manage for potentially much greater melt than normal. Schools still need to make sure they build a balanced class while protecting their stats, and it makes sense that lower statistical profiles that bring other things to the table could be more useful than normal to have on the bench until very late in the game. I do think this all bodes well for (rather than being a slight to) people who are already on the waitlist, though. Guess we’ll know more in a few short weeks...
