When practicing I'm able to stay calm and solve Verbal be it SC, RC or CR. But when giving mocks, i totally lose focus and I'm not able to stay calm and think the way I do when practicing. What can i do? I'm very close to my GMAT date.

I think you are scared about your mock score as (i think) you're preparing GMAT so many days/months/yrs back. Your thinking is that what if I do achieve a very low score! This thinking can't help you to concentrate in mock test. You should study with "timer", which is available in GMAT club. You can also use stop watch when preparing quant and verbal prep. If you're nervous in mock test, you should take meditation (if possible).
Thanks__

Ive prepared for less than 2 months and my date is in a week. My timings are alright when practicing, I just completely lose focus on the mocks thatI land up rereading everything.

Do you also lose focus when doing quant?
If no, why do you feel you lose focus in the verbal section but not in the quant section?

I don't lose focus during Quant. But during verbal I just become very slow initially that I land up re-reading everything which leads to not finishing the section.

Hello,
You need to control the stress and focus on solving the questions. How do you practice? Are you using timer or not? If not, then you must start using timer to check how you are performing. I am afraid that if you are loosing focus in mocks, then how will you tackle the official GMAT?
You can start meditation, focus your energy and change the strategy. Obviously, these things will not build in a day and it will require some time. When is your exam scheduled? How are you doing in Mocks? What are your sectional scores?

I'm like a week away from my test and I'm scoring in 600's.
I use a timer while practicing and I'm able to practice well in time. I have mock test anxiety that leads me to become very slow in VA. I was doing well in Verbal while practicing which entailed into me choosing VA QA IR AWA order, clearly it's not working out. I've prepared for less than 2 months.

Hi,
I do not know what score you are targeting but if you are scoring 600's and in a week you would probably get the same score with +- 30. Remember, if you do not finish the exam in time, it will heavily damage your score. Advise for a strategy - take things slowly in first set and then put average time in both the sections. If you think, question is hard, leave it and move on. Do your best on Easy/Medium questions and utilize the time saved by skipping hard questions. I am sure with this approach, you will finish the exam and get a good score. All the best.
