I interviewed with McCombs on the 15th of Feb and opted for a Skype interview with a second year student. The interviewer was extremely friendly and overall, the interview was extremely conversational and to my surprise very casual. Although, I had to constantly remind myself to keep my guard up and stay on course!
The interview started off with the interviewer introducing herself and the rationale behind why she chose McCombs. After about 5 minutes of casual introductions, the interview process took its normal course. Here are a few questions I was asked:
1) I have read your resume and have a rough idea about your work experience. However tell me about what in your resume you consider highlights without going into too much detail.
2) What are your short term and long term goals? (She dwelled on this question for a while, as her post-MBA goals were in line with mine. She was kind enough to share her experiences at her internship and how McCombs helped her thus far)
3) Why MBA and how does this fit into your plan?
4) Why MBA now?
5) Tell me about a time you had to come up with an innovative solution?
6) Tell me about a time you had to resolve a conflict? What was the outcome?
7) Tell me about a time you were a leader? What did you learn and how would you define your leadership style.
8) How did you hear about McCombs? (Transitioning into why McCombs)
9) How do you see yourself contributing to the classroom and the community in general.
10) Tell me about a time you had to work in a diverse team? What were your experiences and what did you learn?
11) What other schools have you applied to?
12) What did you learn about yourself through the application process? (this question transitioned into strengths/weaknesses)
13) Any questions for me?
The interview went on for about an hour. 45-50 minutes for the interview and 10 minutes for my questions for her.
All in all it was a great experience. Now the dreaded wait begins. Good luck for your interviews everyone!
