You can send your official transcript yourself, not necessary from your undergrad institution.

Does Anderson require original transcripts or degree certificates by the deadline, say Jan starting?? Wow, I didn't know schools need that!

They require it only if you get an interview call. Both of them within 30 days of the interview call. Nothing required by the application deadline. Only the softcopy to be uploaded which is done for every other school.

I just got the interview invite and request for official documents. Does anyone have a recommendation on whether or not Transcripts should be sent directly from the undergrad university?

I ask because the email instructs to use "a delivery service that provides you with tracking information". I wonder if I should request the documents and forward them myself so that I have a tracking number.

If you send/deliver your transcripts yourself, make sure you don't open the original envelope that the transcript comes in or else it will invalidate the "official document." From my understanding, you could send directly to the Anderson admissions office. I would just send them a note letting them know that it is on its way.

Thanks, I saw that as well. I went ahead and used my school's transcript service. They allow me to keep track of the progress with an online system.

For those who may be interested, I attended the chat today and learned some new info about the timeline for decision notifications. Evidently those who have been admitted will receive a call on MONDAY, DECEMBER 14th. Then, everyone (admitted and denied) will receive an email on Tuesday, December 15th. They expect the calls to begin early in the morning (PST). Not getting a call on the 14th doesn't necessarily mean you're denied; they may make some calls on Tuesday to those they're unable to reach on Monday.

Thanks very much, clint2121 for posting an update on decisions. The only thing I would like to add is that on Dec 14th calls will start from International admits and then all admits throughout the day. Also don't lose hope if don't get a call on Monday as admission team will call those admits on Tuesday to whom they could not contact on Monday.

Good luck to all R1 applicants!!

So here is summary and transcript of recent UCLA live chat.

Could you please elaborate on specific opportunities the school has for those aspiring towards a career in venture capital?

UCLA_James: Thanks for your question. Although I am not going into venture capital, I can touch on it a little bit. VC is a tough industry to break into. It's very dependent on your experience and network. That being said, there is the Venture Fellows program at Anderson, https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/centers/pr ... ms/venture Many students do academic internships during the school year at local VCs and PE firms.

The ARM program has a list of companies here: https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/degrees/mb ... iculum/amr, for example I want to work with Trader Joe's in this list, is that assured? Or the available companies will vary every year, and the list is just a list for historical companies

UCLA_James: The list of companies for the AMR program changes from year to year. However, many companies do choose to be a part of the program multiple years because of the quality of the project the students deliver. That being said, you aren't guaranteed a certain project. The project you get is largely dependent on your team makeup and how you and your team member rank the projects you would prefer to get. Most teams get one of their top 3 choices.

UCLA_Jessica: AMR companies tend change each year, though some may decide to return the following year, or perhaps a few years later, depending on the timeline to implement the recommendations that come from the AMR team and if other projects are available for students. But each year there are lots of amazing companies that partner with our program.

I know Anderson is known for their strong career advising. Does that spill over to academic advising as well? Can you speak to the resources students have in terms of planning their curriculum, choosing their specializations and tracks, etc.? Thank you

UCLA_James: There is academic advising available. For me, I have taken classes in areas that I am interested in. A lot of the information I got was from past students telling me about classes they enjoyed. That being said, I have talked with my career advisor some about what classes may help position me to make the career transition I am trying to make.

Would the Easton Technology Leadership specialization make sense for a person from a tech background?

UCLA_James: I would recommend the Easton Program to anyone looking to get into tech, regardless of your background.

Which are the main companies that hire international students for IB in LA/Southern California?

UCLA_Jessica: Pretty much all the major investment banks will recruit Anderson students for internships and FT jobs. Companies may be restricted in the number of international students they can hire if there are not enough H-1 visas so we always advise our international students to be more flexible when comes time for recruiting.

Is there any benefit of submitting the application earlier than the round 2 deadline?

UCLA_Jessica: we wait until the end of the round deadline so we have a comprehensive understanding of the applicant pool for that round, so submitting your application super early won't make you more competitive. But, I would not advise waiting until the last minute to submit just to avoid any technical issues. If your application is ready early on and it's as strong as can be, then by all means submit it!

What role 2nd year students typically play in internship-search process of 1st year students? Thank you.

UCLA_James: 2nd-years are an integral part of the internship search process. Many of them will have interned or worked at places you are interested in. The will be able to help you prepare for interviews, get an insider's perspective on the company, introduce you to individuals you can have informational interviews with, etc.

What kind of resources does the school offer for someone who is going to take an entrepreneurial path post graduation?

UCLA_James: one that comes to mind is the BCO program (an alternative program to AMR for students wanting to start their own company). The Price Center for entrepreneurship is a great resource too. They help create courses related to entrepreneurship and do a ton to support students starting their own ventures. Here is some info on the Price Center, https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/centers/price

As I'm considering switching fields post MBA and moving into media and entertainment, can you please provide insight into the MEMES center?

UCLA_James: MEMES, much like the Price Center for Entrepreneurship, is link between academics and career. They are involved with course creation, workshops, and other programming on campus. Here is a link to their site, https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/centers/memes All the academic centers at Anderson do a great job feeling to pulse of Anderson students as well as know what is hot in the industry and then working to create courses of workshops around those key topics.

UCLA_Jessica: In the MEMES website here you can find more information on how they work with students https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/centers/ce ... s/students

What are the most typical career paths for students coming from I-banking?

UCLA_Jessica: The majority of our students are career switchers, so many coming from banking may switch to another career such as consulting, tech, etc.; but there are definitely those who wish to stay in finance as well.

thanks for sharing doctorhm.

You are most welcome!

@everyone

My interview was with an AdCom member on the 3rd of December. She was very nice and had a great sense of humor. Thus, my interview was relaxed and very conversational.

The questions were - tell me about yourself, why MBA, what skills you aim to gain through MBA, motivation behind my extra-curricular activities, leadership challenge experience, skills learned till date, how would you contribute to class, personally what you aim to gain from an MBA, anything that you would have done differently at the professional front, how would you contribute inside classroom, why Anderson, Any questions for me.

Hope this helps someone.

Sorry for the late update!
