Manhattan Prep is the way to go for GMAT. I bought Manhattan GMAT books after reading their excellent review online; however, I was still lost after reading through all the books. I then signed up for 9 week course online with Manhattan Prep and that was definitely money well spent. The classes are incredibly helpful and both of my instructors, Ryan Jacobs and Paul Fisher, were really knowledgeable and approachable. They teach you so many tricks that you would never learn by just reading the books!

After taking the classes, I found that I was still struggling with CR and certain areas of quant. I then took 4 private lessons with Ryan that essentially helped me to cross the 700 mark.

Ryan is an awesome teacher who genuinely cares for his students and is always available to answer questions, even when he is on vacation. If you are struggling with GMAT in general, I suggest signing up for classes with Manhattan prep. However, if there are specific areas that need work, I would sign up for private lessons (they are expensive, but so worth it). If you can, I would recommend taking a class with Ryan. He will make them fun and really work with you to understand the deficiencies.

A big thank you to Manhattan Prep and Ryan Jacobs!

Fantastic instructor!!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took GMAT two weeks ago and got a 710. Jamie and other Manhattan instructors have helped me achieve my goal score. Manhattan discussion board has been helpful as well. Thanks Ron. The 9 week online course covers most basic concepts that you will see on the real test. The books are fantastic; they provide you with most things you need to know about the GMAT. If you are on the fence about about taking the course, please don't be. I can tell that the quality of teaching here is outstanding. The instructor I had, Jamie, was probably one of the most caring instructors I have ever had.

Great class

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9-week course with Dan in Chelsea Manhattan and it was really great. Dan was a smart, patient teacher and kept things as engaging as you could. The materials are excellent. There is a lot of homework but it definitely keeps you on the right track. It was a really good foundation. To be honest what really brought my score up was taking a bunch of practice tests once the class was done but the class was great for learning the material.

I was really happy with my score in the end, it went up a lot over the course of the class. With the practice tests I would say the true GMAT math is a lot easier and the verbal is a little harder. I supplemented with actual GMAC exams.

Awesome!!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Class session was awesome! I highly recommend to anyone who is serious about reaching their GMAT goals. I took the class in Boston (Back Bay) and Sergio Frisoli was the instructor. He was the absolute best. Class pace was perfect - challenging but not impossible (I suggest only doing what is required during the week....doing the extra problems is too much. Spend 1-2 months after the last class to study on your own - during this time you can do all the extra problems you want). I am not a flashcard person but they also helped a lot. Keeping a detailed error log is also important.

Went into class blind - walked out with 740

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I went into Manhattan Prep’s 9 week GMAT course (with teacher David Mahler) completely blind - I had not opened a book prior to the first class and was 6 years removed from my last college course. The class was totally comprehensive - after the 9 weeks, plus a few extra sessions with David to polish off my skills, I was in a great place to take the test. Got a 740 on my first attempt and never have to think about it again!

I highly recommend this course to anybody who could use a bit of structure in their studying. Also David rocks.

Satisfied Customer

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9-week Manhattan Prep course for the GMAT with Isaac and was very happy with the experience and results. Besides the useful techniques and strategies I learned in class, Isaac was very responsive and helpful as I had questions prior to and following my test day. He really helped me hone my strategy, which had a huge impact on my score. Manhattan has a number of great resources (practice tests, blogs, etc.) and can cater to people of all backgrounds. You really don't need to use anything else. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. I would recommend!

44 --> 50 on Quant with 1 tutoring session!

As context, I took the GMAT about a month ago for the first time and scored 690 (44 Q, 40 V). I was particularly bummed about my Quant subscore, feeling that this was a poor reflection on my actual quantitative abilities. I decided to retake the GMAT 19 days after my first attempt, and figured I'd cram as much quant practice during those 2+ weeks as possible to bump this score up.

Having not done any GMAT tutoring previously (I only used a mix of OG, GMATPrep online tests/questions, Magoosh), in a mild freakout 5 days before my test I decided to schedule a 1.5 hour tutoring session with ManhattanGMAT to see if I could make any small quick wins prior to the upcoming retake.

Though pricey (almost $400 for 1.5 hours), this tutoring session with Isaac was 100% worth it. Isaac walked me through a number of problem types I missed on previous practice tests, diagnosed my test-taking issue (I was not allocating my time smartly for the 75 hours on each section), and provided me ample follow-up practice areas to make sure I had enough fodder for honing in on what we practiced.

On the test retake day, I was surprised by how easy the quant section felt this time around. I walked into my pre-Verbal break knowing I crushed the section.

And crushed it I did! Jumped my Q from 44 (54%ile) to 50 (87%). I highly doubt I would have been able to rock this high of a score had I not scheduled this tutoring session.

The cost may seem steep for such a short period of time, but at the end of the day, it's a drop in the bucket relative to the overall cost (and benefit) of a great MBA. And in many cases, a great GMAT score can make all the difference in terms of getting admitted.

Amazing Experience with Manhattan Prep

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I was very happy with my experience with Manhattan Prep and my instructor Abby. I took a practice GMAT test cold before the course and got a 580. Flash forward to 3 months later after I completed the course, I walked out of the testing center beaming with a 730 score, hitting my target. Abby kept her classes engaging, and really got to know her students. I personally really appreciated her continuous involvement in my studying even after the course had ended (I took the GMAT about a month after the course was over). She was the perfect combination of encouraging and realism when we discussed my goals. She gave me great insight on ways to improve my school beyond what the Manhattan syllabus regimented as my goal was to achieve a score competitive enough for top business school.
Instructor aside, I found all the tools provided by Manhattan Prep to be very helpful. My personal favorite thing about the program is that their practice exams are harder than the actual GMAT, which made my feel more at ease when taking the actual exam.
Overall I would definitely say they are worth the investment!

Went from a 650 to a 730 with the class.

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the 9 week course which was offered on site at my workplace. My first practice CAT I got a 650 on, with no prior experience. The class gave me a study plan and motivated me to study and devote time to the GMAT. The class material was concise and very useful. Joe, my instructor, was passionate about teaching, and made the dry subject matter interesting and fun. The homework was time consuming, but it was designed to be so in order to get you in the rhythm of studying and to teach you all the relevant concepts. Joe strongly encouraged participation in class, and pushed us to set up study groups, which helped you become even more invested in the journey. After the class ended, there was still an abundance of free resources available from Manhattan Prep, from post course/exam tutoring sessions to the online Interact courses. I felt like Manhattan Prep was there with me every step of the way. I would recommend it for anyone who wants a structured plan to study for the GMAT while having some fun along the way.

Great GMAT prep class

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the Manhattan Prep GMAT prep 9-session class summer with David Mahler in New York City. I did well on my first attempt and even better on my second attempt.

The Manhattan GMAT classes/books helped me improve in those specific areas. Personally, I am a strong quantitative person but not so much on the verbal side. I had many difficulties in sentence correction and critical reasoning before I took the class. I practiced a lot of questions in the section books. The Manhattan Prep online portal is also particularly helpful in terms of taking mock exams.

I strongly recommend anybody who wants to improve greatly on their GMAT scores to take the class.
