The Manhattan GMAT online classes were great in the fact that each class was recorded. I rarely have 3 hours at night to sit in front of a computer so I was able to watch the classes on my own time. Also, a HUGE advantage is that once you open up the recorded class on your computer, it will play all 3 hours even if you're not connected to the internet. I watched most of the classes on plane rides to/from clients.
I had studied and taken the GMAT once before the class so most of what the class taught I already learned. But, there is a lot of information presented in the classes and I like the way the study plan gives you a guide for your studies.
Also, I emailed J.R. Tomkinson once to ask him a question about the pre-test scores and he never got back to me, ever! I figured it would take him a few days to respond - afterall we are all busy- but he never got back to me, not even after the class ended. I was pretty disappointed about that considering the massive amount of money these classes cost.

I found the Manhattan GMAT resources to be extremely useful throughout the study process. Their syllabus, combined with MGMAT handing you all of the resources you needed, made the potentially overwhelming process of studying feel more manageable.
I didn't love the class, though. My instructor was Marcus and though he was clearly smart and and a decent teacher, I found his jokes to be distracting and take up too much time. It sometimes seemed as though he was jumping all over the place in terms of content. It was probably the most useful in terms of familiarizing me with the content.
In the end, I found studying on my own to be the most useful. Taking practice tests and going over exam questions taught me a lot more than the class or other studying. My first practice test was a 630, and my actual GMAT was a 730 (68% quant, 99% verbal).

Overall, I was not impressed with the "in-person" course. Would have preferred to simply buy the materials and study on my own. Instructor gave majority of focus to quant. This was my weaker subject so I preferred this imbalance. However, his quant focus began at a high level and was often difficult to follow. He showed "his" methods which were very interested and "speedy" but were difficult to apply to many problems aside from the examples used in class. He was VERY smart, though.
Very disappointed with the course. Obviously I would not recommend it. I wish that the course had been more helpful. The course skipped so many fundamentals and focused on problem specific tactics that I did not find it very beneficial on test day. I really benefited form the text materials and from the practice tests that MGMAT has online. I spent approx 15 hrs per week studying.
