Hello all,
I'm currently an active duty Air Force pilot looking into distance MBA programs at Kansas, Florida State, Oklahoma State, and Ball State. I know that online programs typically are not looked at favorably, but at this time the online option is my only choice for an MBA. I am having trouble figuring out whether Kansas or Florida State is a more respected school. Kansas was just recently ranked in the top 100 for its full time MBA, but Florida State is ranked higher for its online option. Does anyone have any helpful insight into how to go about selecting between these two for my top school? Any input is greatly appreciated!
Speaking purely from a semi-biased perspective, I would steer clear of FSU for an MBA. This coming from an FSU undergrad. Their MBA program is not very respected. Before deciding to transition out, I was pursuing the online route and deciding between Arizona State, Indiana and UNC's online programs. Reputable MBA programs in general and great online programs from everything I've read. I personally think the "Online MBA Rankings" are total BS. I have no facts to back this up, but to me the institution from which you earned the MBA is looked on more favorably than if the online program was considered "better".
I would look into those three programs I listed. Indiana's Kelley Direct program pioneered online MBA programs and is VERY established. Arizona State is a little newer but slightly more affordable and a lot more asynchronous. MBA@UNC is also a great program but extremely expensive. My supervisor (a transitioning Captain) is in his second year with the MBA@UNC program and says he loves it. It does have mandatory weekly live classes but he says its manageable and we go to the field on average every month and a half.
Just my $.02. Hope this helped a little bit.

How are the interviews going for everyone? Only 3-4 weeks left until R1 decisions.
Wrapping up my third and final interview this coming Monday at Owen. Already accepted to Fisher, interviewed a Georgia Tech this past Monday and was pleasantly surprised by the program in general. Waitlisted without interview at Fuqua is very not surprising lol I was scraping the bottom 80% in just about every statistic.
