Following this thread. I plan to take the GMAT by May the latest. I started studying about 2 weeks ago using MGMAT guides (enrolled in MGMAT Interact). I was originally planning to take it in April but since I will be out of the country for about 10 days in March and going to a music festival in April, I thought of moving it to May to give me more time for prep.

Good luck to us!

Thanks a Ton, souvik101990
I was eagerly looking for a good plan... and what can be better when it comes from an expert!!

P.S.: As per the plan, in Week 1: 28th Jan - 4th Feb you will cover Quant: Fractions, Decimals. But in week 2, you will cover "Number Theory". My question is that: isn't this a bit redundant? I mean, Fractions & Decimals come under "Number Theory", right?

However, I will try my best to follow the plan.... :)

Hi SamTheLearner, I believe that what is meant by "Number Theory" is different from Fractions and Decimals. Number Theory deals with the rules relating to odd and even numbers, prime number, divisibility and positive and negative.
If you check out the Manhattan or Veritas Guides it will make sense. I hope it helps.

And good luck Souvnik and all of you !

I am also planning to take the test by last week of April or first week of May. This will surely help to achieve the target score.

Good luck to all!

Road to Q50 V42 - Calling all April - May GMAT Takers

I took my GMAT in February 2013, and I scored a 740 (Q50V40). I remember that my timing was off thoroughly during quant (it was the first time that I had to blindly guess 2-3 questions, and I remember having little to no stamina in verbal). I am an MBA Class of 2017 hopeful, and want to start my journey with as much time in advance as possible. I want to retake the GMAT, not because I think I did not score enough, but because I think I can score higher and because I want to get some structure and discipline in my life outside work. GMAT has always been a hobby and a passion, and what better way than to kick some 99 percentile butt? I want to invite all of you who are planning to take the GMAT, and are applying to the MBA 2016/17 application cycle and we can make a pledge to do the best we can. Below you will find the structure to my GMAT plans, and MBA plans (soon to come). I will post all the resources that I am going to use, and all the question banks that I am going to practice from. Feel free to post yours and we can kill the GMAT/MBA cycle together this year

Resources to be used

[list][*]MGMAT Guides (6th edition) - I am also going to follow the MGMAT Syllabus.

Hi souvik101990,

Having looked through your plan, I'd like to emphasize that it doesn't follow the Manhattan GMAT Syllabus (as far as the sequence of books you will study each week....unless of course you are using the syllabus do to the homework problems from the OG).

By the way, I actually just signed up for a live course with Ron Purewal in San Jose, CA. My 9 week class is scheduled to end on March 22nd, and I'm planning on taking the GMAT on April 4th. I am hoping to get the same Q50 V42 breakdown for my score.

Best of luck to everyone!

I am planning to use Aristotle for the verbal preparation. How will that fit into this plan? Can someone guide me with regard to using manhattan guides for quant and aristotle grail for verbal?

Aristotle RC is not good don't go for it.
Mgmat guides for quant are good to refresh basics.

Combinatorics for GMAT :

Can anyone guide me as to what level of preparation I should do for this topic?
I am finding MGMAT word translation strategy guide exercises for this chapter little trickier.

Hi Guys,

I just finished the MGMAT Critical Reasoning book. So far I missed 2 questions out of the 20+ questions in the problem sets. Posted them on the evernote error log that I am maintaining, and will post that on this thread.

I am starting FDP today and hope to finish the book in a day or two, and then start brute force CR and FDP practicing till Feb 4th to be on track with my plan.

Going to work now. I will come back in the evening and answer questions on this thread. So good to see people participating :-)

P.S: I will also post all the CR questions that I practiced over the the last 3 days from the MGMAT book (Some of them are already in the forum, but I will post them anyway).
