Waitlisted. I accepted my waitlist.

Can anyone explain what the process works like and does everyone get a waitlist status discussion?

Regards,
HK

Seems like everyone who got a call is waitlisted?

not sure about that.. did you accept your wait list?

Yep. I did. Not even sure what that is supposed to mean.

Yeah exactly. Also as an International applicant when do we process our visa and etc if we get admitted. By when do we get our results? Does anyone have an idea

Hmm...maybe I'm being overly optimistic but perhaps they intend on sending more acceptances soon? I'm guessing it's to make sure who is still interested or didn't receive an offer from another school. Retention of acceptances is part of the rankings, so it's probably a way to make sure they aren't sending too many offers. Perhaps sending in batches and trying to first weed out initial declines and those whom have received offers?

Did this happen in R1 as well? It is so unfortunate that not one person from R1 is answering this very basic question. What is the whole point of having a group of admits. Does the only thing people care about is networking? It genuinely saddens me.

Since R2 was the final deadline for international candidates,I think they are waiting for the accepted people to decide whether they will join or not. Maybe in a month's time we can hear about some movement on the wait list. Not sure about US candidates.

The thread for 2021 waitlisted candidates is just sad

I'm the only person to text there.. Let's find out more about the waitlist and help each other who's in the WL

About the WL, I can speak from my experience with other universities and say that this is going to take a long time. They generally do not give out decisions on WLed candidates till almost all their final admission rounds have been completed. You have to keep your fingers crossed and request the school for an early decision on your status.

With regard to accepting your waitlist decision, it simply means that if you accept a place on the school's WL then the admission committee will continue to consider your application on a rolling basis (differs from school to school). If you do not accept a place on the WL then the school goes ahead and withdraws your application and that's the end your application in the current admission cycle.

I hope this helps.

Guys I did not receive a call from Olin. However, when I log in to the portal under the decision tab it says "Congratulations you have been admitted. Please indicate your acceptance decision". Is this a waitlist decision or did they somehow miss out on calling me?

Thanks,
Prashant

Congratulations on the admit, Prashant!

It's safe to say that you have been admitted if it's getting reflected in the portal. Don't stress about not receiving the call. However, you may write to the graduate programs office if you still want to be sure. That being said, I'll still say that you are sorted.

For the information of waitlisted candidates:

Getting into the waitlist is far better than getting rejected. I had applied to Olin in the first Round and got waitlisted and kind of felt the same as you.

But now when I can see my waitlist offers getting converted too I can breathe a sigh o relief.

Getting out of the waitlist is not a hard process. You have got to know where you lacked in your previous applications and improve upon them. I was in contact with the Admin Comm and informed them of my development in career since Round 1 and many more similar updates, which helped me get through the waitlist.

Results of Final deadline in May. A delay in results for wl'ed would mean lesser time to process i20 and visa for international students

Do you think it's best to mail by when we can expect results?

Can you share your process as to how you highlighted your growth since you applied to Olin? Did you mail them? Also was a discussion set up with an AdCom member and were you offered an admit after that?
You are the only POC any leads would be much appreciated :)

You have to identify where your application was lacking. For me, it was my Post MBA goals and some other stuffs I feel. When I informed the AdCom of the developments and changes, I feel I made myself a better candidate in the eyes of the AdCom.

My advise: network with people, talk to them about what they feel was wrong with your application. I possible get in touch with your interviewer and ask him/her about their views if they don't mind answering such questions.
A min 720 is almost a must for Indian Applicants, if your score is lesser or even 720, a better GMAT score improves your chances of getting in
Re-iterate your interest in the Olin Business School, network more and know more about the School and keep in touch with the AdCom and telling them how much you wish to join Olin and why you will be a good candidate for them.
Retrospect a lot, you know yourself the best. Think about where you can improve, address those issues and keep in touch with the AdCom about the changes.

Follow up letters are best sent 2-3 weeks after waitlist decisions and keep in touch with the AdCom as much as you can.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck for the road ahead.

Hey thanks a lot :)

Actually this helps but I can't retake the gmat. I have a 710 and too much has been spent on apps.

I will get in touch with my interviewer hoping that I can learnt things about my interview/application that I can improve upon.

I want to mail giving an update on my application in a couple of days
And you would advise me to send it 2-3 weeks from now?

Regards,
HK
