Please explain Q2 and Q3

Q2 confused with E. I understand that pastimes of vassals are not mentioned. Can we consider the exchange of resources between peasants and kings as an early form of taxation?

Q3 Confused between C and D.
Where is it mentioned kings provided their vassals with protection. There is no definition of vassals.
Why is D wrong. Exchange-->led to aristocracy--> led to war.

" In order to justify the continued extraction of resources from the peasants, the kings and lords had to provide security."
Please press kudos if you like the solution.

Hi BrentGMATPrepNow, could you please help me understand how option D is incorrect for question 3? I agree that option C is right as well, however the 3rd para also mentions that "This exchange led to both the aristocracies that would come to control Europe for centuries to come and the rise of a dedicated warrior class, whose militaristic tendencies would be partly responsible for the years and years of warfare that would wrack Europe." Hence weren't the kings also partly responsible for the wars that wracked Europe, given they were the sole reason behind the dedicated warrior class being there in the first place?
