...hold on.

We concluded that the GMATPrep software will be released on 27th.
Now if you go back and check the official GmatPrep download page, it says that the software will be available on 30th. They changed it again!

Should I panic or rather remain calm about it?

Hi PAcmania,

Sadly, this kind of behavior is typical of the GMAC: promising a release of the updated GMATPrep software by April 30th, then getting people excited by pushing the announced release date ahead to April 27th...and then disappointing people by pushing it back to April 30 all over again. In the world of GMAC, missed deadlines, broken promises and corporate-speak abound. :|

Oh, and don't forget to take screenshots during the tests, just in case the GMATPrep software crashes, which it has been known to do frequently--especially shortly after new versions of the software are released. That being said, the GMATPrep tests are still the very best source of diagnostic/practice CATs, given their official nature.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

GMAC has now removed the April 30 deadline too. Hopefully they do release the updated tests today, otherwise it will be unfair to people who have booked their GMAT considering the deadline previously communicated.

Hi sharan05, I agree! Fingers crossed that the people at GMAC will keep their promises. Here is what the GMAC website looked like last night:

And here is what it looks like today:

I wonder whether GMAC is about to let us down by pushing back the release date yet again. You can also try checking this page for updates to the desktop software (which now appear unlikely) and this page for the online versions of the tests.

Looks like the online version of the official tests has been updated, Check it in the store page in the Official MBA website. I haven't taken the test but when I selected the test and went though till the description page for Quant, I saw it had only 31 questions.

If someone who uses the online version (I prefer the desktop versions) wants to run a question-type count on the new Verbal sections, then that would be great!

GMAC Official Practice Exams and Questions - All Products

I hope that GMAC isn't lazy and updates the desktop versions for Windows and Mac as well.

EDIT: Yup, they were lazy, and/or they wanted to force a migration to the new cloud-based online software. Sayonara, GMATPrep desktop software...it was good knowing you.

There is no need to need to download the software. Just follow the link and take the exams on the internet.

OK, I ran a question-type count on the new (online) Verbal section of Exam 1, and here is what I found:

15 SC, 13 RC, 8 CR.

Make of that what you will! Also note that this balance/frequency of question Verbal types on the new GMATPrep tests does NOT appear to reflect their true proportions on the actual GMAT, based on the debriefs we've read so far, which suggest that RC is now the most common question type.

Keep in mind that I only ran one simulation. It is entirely possible that every GMATPrep test now has a slightly different balance of question types, much like the real GMAT itself, due to the random distribution of experimental questions by type.

Online--but the tests have been updated to the shorter format.

It seems that exam packs and question packs purchased before 16 January 2018 cannot be transferred to the online version and hence will require a fresh purchase. However, the content will remain the same.

I also ran a question-type count on the new online Quant section: 18 PS and 13 DS.
