How can I improve on reading comprehension?

We wish that there was a quick, easy answer to that question, but as is often the case on the GMAT, there are no magic bullets.

Why a new project ?

Since we believe that there are no easy ways to improve RC skills, we want to emphasize on the consistent practice required to ace RC questions. A lot of us have benefitted from doing this in past and we want to teach you the same.

How does it work ?

We will go through the vast RC question base of GMAT club, select Two passages and post the links to them here everyday. Users who are interested can follow along, working on the selected passages.

How does this help ?

Apart from providing consistent practice everyday, we see another benefit. Since most you will be working on same passages on the same day, there will lot of activity on the passage and the user's questions(if any) gets resolved sooner.

New Project RC Butler 2019

Introduction

Here is GMAT RC Butler 2019 Project with new Zeal. Basically it was initiated by Workout in Aug 2018 and proved successful. It received great appreciation and response from the members. Now previous project has been ended in Jan, I am starting it keeping in mind the great response from members.

How will it help?

Verbal is considered tough than quant by a great number of GMAT Students, and by most students in case of non-native speaker of English language. That’s why I am starting this project for GMAT Club members try to build in them a habit of reading.

How will it work?

I will post 2 RC Passages per day onward. There is no shortcut but to read read and read for RC. It will take approx. 20 minutes for taking 2 passage daily but helps more than 20 ton in GMAT Verbal.

What it wants from Members?

A Healthy, informative and interesting discussion is required by the members to keep it alive and to help each other. Any suggestion/feedback is welcomed. I will keep it updated everyday for 2 new Passages Stay Tuned !!

Hello all the respected members !

Good news is that i am going to resume RC Butler Project. I was off the GMAT Club for couple of months due to some personal reasons, but now i think i can start it again with new zeal. A few folks have PM me for the same thanks to them for their interest. For those who don't know, Passages for the month of May and June are not available as i wasn't able to post them. I will restart it from 1st of July (Today in my time zone) and i request all the participants for their good and interesting discussions so it could be beneficial for all the members.

RC Butler Project 2020 - Practice 2 RCs Passages Everyday

Hello Community

Welcome to the RC butler project 2020 edition, this is the 3rd edition. First edition was started in 2018 by workout. For background information, purpose and how it works you can visit 2019 edition here. and 2018 edition here. This edition will starts from 1st of April 2020.

For those who don’t know about butler project, I will post 2 RC passage daily to contribute towards the preparation of GMAT aspirants. Students who need explanations can post their questions in replies I will try my best to help you out there. By investing your 20-30 minutes daily you can improve your RC part of GMAT. GMAT companies’ representatives are welcome to post explanations on request of the members.

Time to expect new questions: 9:00 - 10:00 AM Pacific time zone.

Prize for contributors

GMAT students who are in initial stage of their RC part can take this project as a leaning opportunity by just taking RC questions. Students who think they have mastered this part of GMAT can contribute by helping other students. They can explain questions and win GMAT Club tests for a month (40$ value).

Rules for awarding prize

  • The question will be posted in competition mode for 1 day so that members cannot see other members post or replies on that question.
  • Member who post explanations will be included in the competition to win prize.
  • Copy paste explanations will not be considered.
  • Explanations must be comprehensive, the reasoning why wrong answers are wrong and why correct answer is correct should be there.
  • This competition will be running for a month and might be extended based on the response of the members.
  • A winner needs to explain all questions of at least 5 RCs to win the prize.
  • The best explainer of the month will get 3 month GC tests (80$ value).

RC Butler Competition 2021 - Participate and Win!

Hello and welcome to the RC Butler competition 2021, this is the 4th edition. To help out in the GMAT preparation of our members we are trying to make these butler projects the tradition of GMAT Club. I hope the New Year will bring us to the new positive things unlike that of the tough year 2020 and I hope this pandemic will be vanished with the current year.

I suppose that most of you are well aware of the RC Butler project, But for those who don’t have much knowledge can visit the 2019 edition here and 2020 edition here. I will post 2 RC passages daily to contribute in the preparation of GMAT aspirants. Brief detail about the background information, purpose and how it works is available in 2019 edition.

The competition will be on for the first two weeks from Friday 1st Jan, 2021 till Friday 15th Jan. Saturday and Sunday will be off. In total we will have 11 days of competition. After the first two weeks the competition will be over but the butler project will keep going.

Prize for Winners

GMAT students who are in the initial stage of their RC preparation can take this project as a learning opportunity by just solving the RC questions. Students who think they have mastered (almost) this part of the GMAT can contribute by helping other students. They can explain the questions and win GMAT Club test subscriptions for three months (80$ value).

Competition Rules

  • The questions will be posted in competition mode for 1 day so that members cannot see other member’s posts or replies.
  • Members who post explanations will be considered for the competition to win the prize.
  • Copy paste explanations will not be accepted and post will be deleted.
  • Explanations must be comprehensive, the reasoning why wrong answers are wrong and why correct answer is correct should be there.
  • A winner needs to explain all questions of at least 5 RCs to win a prize.
  • Top three positions will get a prize of GC Tests for three months while 4th and 5th position will get GC Tests for one month, there are total 5 prizes.
